WHO WE ARE...

Established in the market town of Machynlleth in 1983, Advice Mid Wales was originally part of the Citizens Advice network. We became an independent registered charity in 2005 so that we could best continue to meet the needs of our local community. (Registered Charity No. 1111040).

We are members of Advice UK, the country’s largest professional body representing the independent advice sector. Over the last 40 years we have developed strong ties within our community and have become widely known for the quality of the services we offer. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers are professional, knowledgeable and approachable. We also have a board of Trustees made up of representatives from the wider community. Each year we deal with over 2,200 cases and enquiries, so no matter what the problem, there will always be a helping hand from a local organisation that cares.

We provide a Generalist Advice Service for a wide variety of problems
Our Specialist Money Advice Caseworkers are members of the Institute of Money Advisers® and are Accredited Intermediaries for Debt Relief Orders (DROs)
We hold three drop-in advice sessions each week, plus flexible pre-booked appointments, which means you can get help when you need it
We are the only advice service in Mid-Wales to offer home visits, and even hospital visits when possible
We offer regular outreach services, including Tywyn Library
We are the only advice centre in the area to represent our clients at First Tier Tribunals
We are an alternative office of The DWP’s Pension Service, meaning you can bring in any forms and documents The Pension Service has asked you to provide
We can provide emergency fuel vouchers in partnership with the Fuel Bank Foundation (subject to eligibility)
We work in partnership with the Bro Ddyfi Foodbank
We provide volunteering and training opportunities
